Somebody tell me

North Korea has nuclear weapons. It has said it is going to build up its arsenal.

We don't want North Korea to have nuclear weapons. They scare us and we'd just rather they not have them.

North Korea is demanding talks with the U.S. about the matter.

Why will we not give them talks if it can defuse the bomb? Why do we not talk to the Koreans if we can get them to disarm? We're the only one they want to talk to. Somebody tell me why we're not doing this with the utmost urgency.
